This series is based on the Norse creation myth and starts with the lands of Filheim and Muspell forming in the void that had existed before anything else. Filheim was a land of cold and fog, whereas Muspell was made of warm, burning flame. Where Filheim and Muspell met, there was a river in the void called Ginnungagap. A cow named Audhulma, the Nourisher, formed in Ginnungagap, and her four legs supported the corners of the universe. Audhulma got her own nourishment by licking the salt from rocks that had formed in the ice. She kept licking until a god emerged from within the rock; he was called Buri, the Produce. Buri and his son went on to wage a war against evil giants that led to the creation of the world as it is now.
